On Saturday morning, February 13 a group of spelunkers entered Laurel Caverns near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. They got as far as an area called the Post Office, where one of the group, Ronald Kostosky, fell about 12 feet and suffered a broken leg. At 11:00 a.m. one of the group exited and reported the incident. Hopwood and Farmington firefighters were called. With a guide and a portable litter they reached the victim in about an hour and a half. It took five and a half hours to get the injured spelunker out.
