What is the IO annual report?

The IO annual report is a means for the NSS to touch base with your IO or affinity group to get an idea how things are going. The report is due on an annual basis and is an obligation you have as an IO or affinity group. You should "submit" the report multiple times throughout the year as changes occur in your IO or affinity group.

When is the IO annual report due?

The report is due once each year during the month of January and is considered the report for the previous calendar year.

How do we submit the IO annual report?

IOs and affinity groups: You must submit the report online at www.nssio.org You should update the online record throughout the year as changes occur in your IO or affinity group. You will need the IO serial number and password in order to log in.

Where do I find the serial number for my IO or affinity group?

The serial numbers are on the individual lists here on this website. There are lists for grottos, regions, sections, surveys, and affinity groups. There is also a list of all active IOs in alphabetical order here.

Where do I find the password for my organization?

The password has been provided to an officer within your organization. If it has been mislaid or forgotten, you must contact the Chair of the IO Committee Keith D. Wheeland or go to nssio.org and ask for your password. It will be sent to the email addresses you have on file for the IO. Before doing this you may want to verify which emails you have on file for your IO. You can do that by going to the NSS web page and clicking on Find a Local Caving Club.

How do I know whether the IO annual report has been submitted for my IO?

Click here or click on the "Annual Report - Status" button on the home page.

How do I update the information that appears on the NSS webpage or Members Manual?

You may update the information online at www.nssio.org You should update the online record throughout the year as changes occur in your IO. You will need the IO serial number and password in order to log in. Your grotto information appears on the NSS webpage and is available to anyone who accesses it. Therefore your grotto should update the information as changes occur.

How do I update the region, section, survey, or affinity group information that appears on this IO Committee webspace or Members Manual?

IOs: You must update the information online at www.nssio.org You should update the online record throughout the year as changes occur in your IO. You will need the IO serial number and password in order to log in.

affinity groups: Send me an email telling me what needs updating. You may also update your information online the same as IOs.

Your IO information appears on the NSS website and is available to anyone who accesses it. Therefore your IO should update the information as changes occur.

How can I get my grotto information to appear in another state besides its home state?

As you know, grotto information is listed by state both in the Members Manual and on the NSS website. There is a place in the online records where you can select up to three additional states in which to list your grotto. This option is available under the following restriction. The extra states will be allowed if it is reasonable to assume that cavers from those states would attend your regular meetings on a regular basis. Since only grottos are listed by state, the fields are meaningless for other IOs.

Where are we required to send copies of our IO publications?

You are required to send two copies to the NSS Library and to the NSS Cave Files Committee. For more information about news letter distribution, please visit this page.

What if we change our constitution and bylaws?

You are required to send a copy of each to the IO Committee. Send as an attachment to Paul Winter or send on paper to:

How does primary affiliation affect my IO?

If your IO is a grotto, your grotto must have at least five active (paid up) NSS members who consider your grotto as their primary affiliation.

Each IO is allotted a certain number of votes for the Congress of grottos. The number allotted depends upon the number of active (paid up) NSS members who consider that IO as their primary affiliation.
