Central Arizona Grotto

My First Caving Experience

    My First Peppersauce Experience

Jim Dawson of the Central Arizona Grotto invited me to Peppersauce in order to introduce me to the world of caving. For me it was a very exciting experience. I've been in show caves before, but never a wild one. We got back there in the room where the rabbit hole is, and did a lot of cleanup work. I found a cinder block! We hauled out bottles, cans, candles, batteries, all kinds of junk. I climbed up to the top of the room, and went down the passage there. I discovered a large column, a small column, and another passage. Now this was getting exciting! Against my better judgement, I proceeded, and discovered a whole new room. I went back, got Jim and Pat, and coaxed them up the passage to view my wonderful discovery. Pat actually crawled down into the newly discovered room. There was string in there. It was the same string we saw entering the cave. It wasn't new at all, merely a connecting passage. Still it was exciting, and adventurous.
I'm primed and ready for more.
