Nov 22, 2009 Sunday: Clarksville Cave (aka Ward Gregory) in Clarksville NY. This is a beginner level trip. The CCG has a some helmets and headlamps available with advance reservations. Nov 14, 2009 Saturday: Red Mountain Pit in southern VT. This is an advanced vertical trip. The cave is basically a 174ft dead bottom pit. The entire time on rope, you will be exposed to very cold water raining down on you. You must have experience, strength and the right equipment for this trip. There is also one bolt / rebelay that must be passed. If you meet all of the requirements, its an awesome, rarely visited marble cave (you rappel through 5 layers of marble.) I want to keep the trip small, 1-2 cars, so please let me know if you are interest. July 19-26, 2009: 2009 NSS Convention To be held in conjunction with the 15th International Congress of Speleology in Kerrville, Texas. ICS2009

July 31 - Aug 2, 2009: Caving in the Adirondacks
The Touchy Sword of Damocles, TSOD, used to be considered the world's largest talus cave, but they changed the definitions a few years ago and it's now considered a system of smaller caves. It sits under the 1000 foot cliff of Wallface and is basically a pile of overgrown house sized boulders with passages and rooms between and underneath. See a portion of the underground section of the Park River in Hartford. Access is from the East Hartford side of the Connecticut River. Must be able to handle fast water and boat wake. October 16, 2010, 6-10PM:  NCC Barn Dance in Knox NY area
Fundraiser for the Northeastern Cave Conservancy. Contras, squares and folk dancing for all from 7 - 10 PM with a live fiddle band playing traditional Early American, Celtic, French-Canadian, Old-time and original fiddle tunes (jigs, reels, waltzes). Sept 10-12, 2010:  Fall 2010 NRO
The fall meeting of the NRO (Northeastern Regional Organization) will be held in Pittsfield Mass. Much more info is at Fall 2010 NRO.

August 2-6, 2010: NSS Convention in Essex Junction, VT. The annual national convention of the National Speleological Society is within a half-day drive of Connecticut. It is hosted by the cavers of VT (VCA) and the Northeast Regional Organization. There are also many caving and special activities before and after the convention. NSS 2010 Convention. July 10, 2010, Saturday: Morris Cave, Vermont
Morris Cave is largest cave in Vermont and the finest marble cave in New England. Like many northeast caves, this cave has many tight passages, crawls, standing water, and mud. May 29, 2010 Saturday: Knox Cave
Knox is a dry, beginner-friendly cave located southwest of Albany, NY. Please plan for several hours underground, and a all-day trip overall.  Beginners who need gear can borrow from the CCG gear stash; reserve gear in advance. If you are interested in attending or have questions, please contact Chris who will send emails the with details and ridesharing as we get closer to the date. May 14-16, 2010: 2010 Spring NRO

These are small (even for Connecticut!) solution caves, ranging from a few feet to about 50 feet of passage. Getting there involves a short but rough hike. Meet at 10 am in parking lot at Bolton Notch State Park. For info contact the trip leader: Norm Berg at <snip>.
