25th Annual Grand Caverns
Easter Restoration Camp
April 15, 2017

Don't let Tax Day get you down. Hop on over to the annual GRAND CAVERNS EASTER RESTORATION CAMP on April 14-16 (Friday-Sunday).

If you enjoy cave conservation and the camaraderie of fellow cavers, join us for another day of "giving back to the cave" at beautiful Grand Caverns.

In addition to the usual algae abatement, we will haul gravel to the narrow paths in the cave, do some scraping and painting where needed (obviously not in the cave), and clear brush at the road. We will also do the ubiquitous formation repair in Fountain Cave.

We will meet at the main pavilion at the parking lot around 8:30 and be ready to work at 9 a.m. on Saturday.

This weekend is sponsored by the Conservation Committee of the Virginia Region (VAR) of the National Speleological Society. Primitive camping and socializing with fellow cavers are available both nights, and food and beverages are provided for Saturday lunch and dinner! And, best of all it's all free to all volunteers!

Please RSVP to Meredith Hall Weberg (merecaver@yahoo.com) so she can plan for food.

Bring clean (deconned even!) cave clothes and gear and any tools you think might be useful.

From I-81, take Exit 235 to SR 256, [turn left if traveling South on I-81, and right if traveling North on I-81, toward Grottoes]. Travel East on SR 256 for 7 miles to Grottoes. At the intersection of Dogwood Avenue (Rt. 825), turn South [Right] on Dogwood.
Travel South on Dogwood Ave. for 1,000 feet. Turn Right into the Entrance of Grand Caverns [Grand Caverns Drive].
If arriving Friday night to camp, turn right immediately after passing the entrance gate to the big pavilion with the big fireplace.
If arriving Saturday morning, continue straight until you get to the parking lot for tours.
Meet at the pavilion by 9 a.m.!
