Our next general meeting is this Thursday, November 16, at the Chevy Chase Community Center on Connecticut Av, in DC. See our Directions-Page. As usual, the meeting will start at 7:30 pm. Everyone is welcome and, as always, you don't have to be a DC Grotto member to attend (we strongly WELCOME all new and interested folks).
The program this month is sort of a preparation for our Annual Banquet to be held December 2 ...
"240-feet below ground lies an abandoned Cold War fallout shelter deep in the Mojave Desert. For 6 days a Marine Reserve, a Navy Survival Instructor, and an Engineer battle isolation, hallucination, and starvation as they struggle to find an escape." Thus reads the trailer for the Discovery Channel's episode 2 of "Darkness," a new reality show that immerses the participants in complete darkness. DC Grotto member Bill Sherman is the Engineer. So, our the program this month will be a video presentation of the entire 41-minute episode.
And for the DC Grotto Banquet on Saturday December 2, Bill will share some off-camera video, we'll hear his account of the experience, and get the behind-the-scene story, during an open Q&A session.
Early-Birds may meet at 6:15 pm for pre-meeting dining at the American City Diner, 5532 Connecticut Ave. NW, Washington, DC, 20015 (a block south of the CCCC on the other side of the street) [Ph: 202-244-1949].
After the meeting, to continue the socializing, we may adjourn to the Chevy Chase Lounge, 5510 Conn. Ave. (1-1/2 blocks S. of the CCCC [opp. side of street] [Ph: 202-966-7600])
Hope you can make it!
