Southwestern Region Awards
SWR Cartography Award

The award was created in 2016 to recognize those cavers that have made exceptional contributions in the field of caving cartography. The award is given to:

A SWR caver that has been producing exceptional maps of caves. The award criteria are that the individual:
1.     Has produced an exceptional number of maps of caves, and/or:
2.     That the produced map(s) is exceptional, and/or:
3.     Shows exceptional promise as a new cartographer
 
An award committee will be appointed by the Chairman of the SWR to consider and evaluate candidates for the award. The award will be based on and awarded on merit, and presented at the SWR Winter Tech. The award will consist of a certificate signed by the SWR Chairman and a $50.00 award.

Awards to SWR

 
- In 1992 the Southwestern Region received the last NSS Group Conservation Award
 
- In 2002 the Southestern Region received the US Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management National Volunteer Award, one of only two such group awards given by the BLM in 2002.
