Bermuda Cave Conservation Problem

Hello John, my name is Milton Repose. I live in Bermuda, the home of hundreds of caves. I am a member of an environmental group called Save Open Spaces (SOS). Although Bermuda is very lush with trees and forest, we are still threatened by over-building simply because we are a very small island. but, over the past three years, we have been fighting a foreign development company that intends to build on virgin land and forest. it is a home to thousands of endemic plants. Plus, there is a lot of history as far as race and government is concerned. Anyway, they intend to build condominiums on this land. The threat goes further: underneath is a massive cave system that they intend to build on top of.  In fact, there are two caves. The caves are on hotel property and are guarded from the general public, but access is possible. In these caves are endemic shrimp communities and underwater systems.  For more information see  Tom Iliffe's excellent page giving detailed information.

We have lost our battle with government and the development company (Bermuda Properties Limited). So I am writing to you for some sort of help.

If you can. I know you only work within the United States, but even some advice might go a long way. we feel that to build on top precious caves and to bulldoze a beautiful forest is a massive injustice. Well, if you can please write back. If you’d like more information or details don’t hesitate to reach me.
