Binkley Cave Trip Report Update & Other News

Greetings, cavers!

· Laura Demarest has added her account of the side passage she helped survey on the November 15 trip to the McLain River. Here is a link to the report: http://files.hoosiercavers.com/Binkley/Binkley11-15-14.pdf

Other News

· I had earlier put some dates on the website calendar, hoping to do some mop-up survey and training on the last two Saturdays of December. However, due to my second bullet point below and other factors (families and holiday period), it is not looking likely for those trips to take place. There is a slight possibility I may try to schedule an introductory trip during that time. Therefore, right now except for a closed trip this Saturday, there are no CONFIRMED upcoming trips or dates at this time. Please stay tuned!

· On November 15, I aggravated an old knee injury from 2001. It is the worst I’ve done to it since then, and it has been very slow to heal. I am almost not limping any more, but I don’t feel at all confident to go caving right now, so I hope it will get well soon!!!

· Earlier this Fall, Evan West published a story about Tim McLain and the Binkley Cave project in the October issue of Indianapolis Monthly; I scanned a print copy and made it available here: http://files.hoosiercavers.com/Binkley/EvanWestIndianapolisMonthly.pdf. The link is also located near the top of the home page of the project website.

· HAPPY HOLIDAYS!! Whatever applies to you: Merry Christmas, or whatever and however you choose to celebrate. Regardless, I am grateful to and thankful for many of you!!!! Enjoy the holiday season, and make the most of your time with family, friends, and loved ones.

Reminder: the latest book by Gary Roberson titled “The Longest Year: the Indiana Caverns Development Story” is available now! Here is a link (located on our website) with information on how to obtain a copy: http://files.hoosiercavers.com/Binkley/TheLongestYearFlier.pdf.

IMPORTANT: if you have an objective request, please make it known to me! There is no way I can know if I’m not told, and the regulars will continue to come up with objectives without you. I look forward to hearing from you about your wishes.
