October 4 Trip Report Posted & Binkley Cave 812 Magazine Story Link

Greetings, cavers!

Kevin Romanak recently provided a trip report on the October 4 McLain River survey trip. In case you don’t recall, five cavers participated in that trip, first continuing the downstream survey of the McLain River to discover it unfortunately sumped. However, they did get a good amount of passage surveyed, including several side passages. Here is a link to the report: http://files.hoosiercavers.com/Binkley/Binkley10-4-14.pdf. If you still wish to contribute to that report or any others, PLEASE get me the information and I will include it!

Upcoming Dates & Other Info

· Right now, there are no solid dates for planned activities on the calendar. Please: if you wish to organize a trip, tell me so I can update the website and we can put the word out.

· This Saturday 27 December 2014, there may be a trip or two. I am considering doing a passage improvement trip in Miller Cave, since my knee is still not recovered well enough to do much. Rand Heazlitt may be leading a trip, possibly with special guest Laura Sisken, who may be visiting from Florida.

· IU students Danielle Costanzo and Camille Sarabia have completed the article they were preparing on Binkley Cave; here is the link to the online edition of 812 Magazine: http://www.812magazine.com/article/2014/12/indiana-down-under

· Here’s hoping everyone has a wonderful holiday season! Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, or whatever else you may celebrate!!!

· If you’re looking for something to do on New Year’s Eve, and like Classic Rock music, SoulStricken (the band I play in) will be bringing in the New Year at 37 Junction in Judah (between Bedford and Bloomington), starting at 9 pm. I’d love to see you there! https://www.facebook.com/#!/events/480608385411969/

Please contact me if you are interested or need more information about any of the upcoming trips, which are also posted on the website. If I am not going that day, I will do my best to put you in touch with others who will or may be.

Reminder: the newest book by Gary Roberson titled “The Longest Year: the Indiana Caverns Development Story” is available now! Here is a link (located on our website) with information on how to obtain a copy: http://files.hoosiercavers.com/Binkley/TheLongestYearFlier.pdf.

IMPORTANT: if you have an objective or trip request, please make it known to me! There is no way I can know if I’m not told, and the regulars will continue to come up with objectives without you. I look forward to hearing from you about your wishes.
