Art exhibition, held at the annual Convention of the National Speleological Society, of drawings, paintings, sculpture, and other art forms not included in the other NSS salons.
The Fine Arts Salon is the official venue for exhibiting speleologically inspired artwork. Artwork can be in any medium, from painting and sketching to digitally altered photography, computer graphics, pottery and sculpture, textiles, and mixed media. Entrants for the Fine Arts Salon are encouraged to incorporate the annual theme in their works. Non-themed entries will be judged in the Open Category.
ENTRIES: All entry forms must be submitted one month before Convention. Do not send original artwork with entry form. Email entry forms to Carol Jackson email@example.com. In addition to the entry form, submit good, professional looking digital images of each work entered for the Salon. Each digital image must be accompanied by: Name of artist, dimensions of the piece, art salon in which to be to be judged, (if judging is desired), and medium. All exhibits are encouraged to be sold at the salon or entered for NSS Auction. The NSS will deduct a 20% commission from all art sold. Previously awarded work is encouraged to be exhibited if not seen within 5 years, but will not be judged in the salon. Entry applications will be screened and artists will be notified by mail or e-mail of acceptance or rejection.
Accepted, ready to hang/display artwork must be shipped to the Convention address, provided on acceptance, to arrive in the Salon by 5pm Saturday immediately before convention.

There are Certificates of Excellence for accepted work for show.
There are 2 Merit award pins and 4 honorable mention pins.
Winners will be selected in each category and a Best of Show overall. Judging will occur at the Convention. Judging for the Best of Show SpeleoArt Award will be by caver ballot.
ENTRY FORMS - Please click logo for adult and child entry forms. They may be submitted online, or printed and mailed. Paper copies may be obtained from the salon chair at the address below. Craft and Design. Textile, and Letters entries can also be submitted on the same form. The same rules and fees apply.
ENTRY FEE - Entry fees are per person. Make checks for entry fees payable to the NSS FAS.
$15 for adults. There will be a reduction for those who can assist with Salon week (contact the salon chair).
$5 for youth (12 and under).
The number of entries is limited to 4 per person for competition. An optional additional 4 may be entered for show only for an additional $10 fee; they do not have to be themed entries. The non-theme entry is a provision for artwork to be displayed but not judged if the artist so wishes.
JUDGING - Pre-selection for exhibition will occur prior to Convention. Judging will occur Monday of convention at 9am, by two professional artists and one caver of high standing within the NSS. The Cavers' Choice Award will be by ballot which starts at the opening reception on Monday afternoon until Thursday at noon.
RIGHTS AND CONDITIONS:
All entrants retain copyright and all moral and intellectual rights to their work. Credit will be included with all objects displayed. The NSS requests the following rights, which are optional. Indicate your agreement by marking the box(es) on the entry form.
The NSS may project these images during the award ceremony.
The NSS may publish images of winning objects in periodicals for the purpose of showcasing contest winners, within one year of the contest.
The NSS may use low-resolution images of these works on Web sites to announce the winners of this competition, for not more than one year.
The NSS may use images of these works in low resolution in a CD/DVD of all entries for an indefinite period. This CD/DVD will be lent to NSS members for viewing at no charge.
