CAVER CHRISTMAS at Cumberland Caverns

I have made the weblink to reserve for Cumberland Caverns Caver Christmas 2023 available.

Please remember, this is a PRIVATE EVENT for cavers, shareholders and friends of the cave. Please don’t share this link publicly, but feel free to share with your caving friends and grottos. We have 1000s and 1000s of tourists from all over and if it is shared publicly the event might get sold out before cavers are able to make reservations.

The Caver Christmas Party is BACK!

Inviting all cavers from the NSS, various grottos and caving clubs all over the country, all shareholders and friends of Cumberland Caverns. Space is limited so please purchase tickets as soon as you can to ensure you have a spot saved! We will have catering in the cave, Cave-themes Christmas decorations, Christmas music and more to be announced! All proceeds above the cost of materials and labor to facilitate this private event for cavers will be donated to the NSS Cave Preservation Network fund, supporting conservation, education and outreach.

Arrive at the Cumberland Caverns gift shop between 5:00 pm and 6:00 pm CENTRAL time. You will check in with the front register who will give you a glow-in-the-dark wrist band that will permit you access to the cave. You will then follow the trail about 300 yards to the cave entrance where security will verify your credentials and send you into the underground. Follow the tourist trail approx. 300 more yards to the World-Famous Volcano Room, where all friends of caves & karst will be gathering for merriment under Roy’s famous chandelier. Food & drink will be catered inside the Volcano Room and food will begin being served at 6:00 pm central.

A few fun details:
Dinner is being catered by the same caterer who feeds our musicians during concerts! Good, quality food!
The WCHS choir will be singing traditional Holiday songs by Candlelight.
A glow-in-the-dark souvenir cup included for all attendees.
Guest speaker (topic and speaker TBA!)
Caver Karaoke (your favorite holiday songs as caving parodies).

Pre-caving trip led by Brandon Van Dalsem at 10 am Saturday Dec 16.
Shelahs Bower, Seal Room, Virgin Ave to Grand Hall, McCrady Canyon to Monument Pillar, Waterfall Room, Devils Quarry, to 10 acre room. (First 12 to sign up, First-Come, First Served. Expect approx 4 hours)

Pre-Caving trip-Higgenbothams Hollow Adventure-Sat Dec 16 at 12:15 pm. First 20 to sign up. Expect 3 hours.

Post-Caving trip-Sunday Dec 17 at 10 am led by Brandon VanDalsem. Hall of Mountain King, Blue Mud Mountain, Grand Hall, Yale Discovery, McKinney Hall, Virgin Ave, Seal Room, Shelahs Bower. First 10 people to sign up, expect approx 4-5 hours.

Post-Caving trip-Sunday Dec 17 at 9 am- Guts & Glory Adventure Tour- First 12 to sign up, expect 3-5 hours.

On-site camping is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

IMPORTANT: Please add rsvp@cumberlandcaverns.com to your email’s contact list! You may not receive your confirmation email and other important details if you do not as many emails seem to sort it to spam!

Please note our unique venue in the Volcano Room is not handicap-accessible and due to insurance regulations we are not able to give rides into the cave. The walk to the Volcano Room is about 600 yards. 300 yards to the cave along a gravel pathway, and 300 yards through the cave, where there are some steep hills, uneven, natural cave floor, including areas that do not have handrails.

As always, Cumberland Caverns is an alcohol-free and drug-free environment. The cave and quality company is our natural high here!
