Puerto Rico Grotto: Grupo Espeleológico del Oeste, Inc. (GEO)

PRGGEO (or simply GEO) is a non-profit speleological organization legally incorpored in the Puerto Rico Department of State. As the newest caving group in Puerto Rico, GEO takes a multidisciplinary approach while uniquely operating under Scouting BSA principles. It focuses on scientific investigations of caves systems through study, explorations, conservation, interpretation, educational outreach, and publication of research findings. GEO provides a platform for both enthusiasts and professionals in speleology who cannot join establishes groups in San Juan, Ponce, Caguas or Arecibo due to geographical or logistical constrains. GEO also fills an important ecological and institutional role by taking on the functional space formerly held by the now-defunt Sociedad Avance Espeleológico (SAE) at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus.
