60th Annual WSS Hodag Hunt

August 9 - August 11

Event Overview

The 60th Annual Wisconsin Speleological Society sponsored Hodag Hunt will be based at the Prairie Island Campground on the Mississippi River at Winona, Minnesota. The ex-commercial Hiawatha Caverns near Witoka, Minnesota, will be featured. It has numerous cave formations and passageways to explore.

Also, for those who want to drive a little further, Nagara Cave just south of Harmony, Minnesota, is well worth seeing. This show cave features a 60 foot high underground waterfall, cave formations, and an impressive, winding cave passageway.

A meal on Saturday night will take place, followed by an auction.

Sunday morning will be the Wisconsin Speleological Society’s Board of Directors Meeting. All are welcome to attend.

Lots of other things exist in the area, including an art festival that weekend in Winona. Near La Crosse, Wisconsin, has other attractions including Granddad’s Bluff, where one can drive up and look out high over the city.
