Caving Underground: New Discoveries
2025 NSS Video Salon. Produced by Joshua Sebree & Francesca Soans, 2023. Caving Underground: New Discoveries highlights the discovery of a new formation in the Snake Pit part of the Wind Cave System in South Dakota. The video was shot and edited by Easton Steffen, a member of the student media team and a first-time caver. The video is part of a series documenting the scientific research being conducted in caves in South Dakota and Minnesota over the span of four years. Funded by NASA and the Iowa Space Grant Consortium, the project is a unique collaboration between the departments of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Biology, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Kinesiology and Athletic Training, and Communication and Media at the University of Northern Iowa.
