Mystery Cave Underground: Mapping for the Future explores the process of mapping the cave network that forms the Mystery Cave System in Minnesota, revealing the thrill of unexpected discoveries and a lot of mud! The video was shot and edited by Ryder Bates, a member of the student media team and a first-time caver. The video is part of a series documenting the scientific research being conducted in caves in South Dakota and Minnesota over the span of four years. Funded by NASA and the Iowa Space Grant Consortium, the project is a unique collaboration between the departments of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Biology, Earth and Environmental Sciences, Kinesiology and Athletic Training, and Communication and Media at the University of Northern Iowa.
