Main Drain Sump Dive 2016

Play Video

NSS 2019 Video Salon. Produced by Aubri Jenson. Main Drain is a deep alpine cave in the Bear Mountains of Northern Utah. It is thought to lead to a larger system with the potential to continue for several kilometers, but this connection requires diving through at least two sumps in near freezing water. The first sump lies below a series of technically challenging drops at -1300 feet. In 2016, a team of cavers from Utah and Texas successfully put two divers through the first sump. This documentary, narrated by both cavers and divers, tells the story of how they accomplished a seemingly impossible task.
