Looking for a cool poster to use with your grotto booth or when doing local educational outreach? The NSS recently partnered with the American Geosciences Institute for their 2025 Earth Science Week poster series!

Earth Science Week took place October 12-18 with a theme of ‘Energy Resources for our Future.’ The NSS Geology Section chose lava tubes as an interesting and engaging way to highlight the way geothermal energy sources connect to caves Meant to be used as an educational tool, the new poster demonstrates key lava tube speleothems and outlines their speleogenesis. Special thanks to NSS member Dave Bunnell who permitted the use imagery from his book Caves of Fire: Inside America’s Lava Tubes (available through the NSS Bookstore) and to Adam Weaver for the design.
